Single sign-on (SSO) has become a familiar and helpful authentication method that enables users to access multiple applications with a single set of login credentials. Kryterion has taken another step in expanding Webassessor functionality for clients and their candidates by adding support for three additional SSO integration methodologies.
With this upgrade, Webassessor now provides four integration options for implementing SSO, including:
In addition to SSO Standard using OAuth 2.0, Webassessor now supports SSO Standard using SAML.
Webassessor’s two new deep link functionality options take SSO integrations a step further by allowing candidates to instantly reach an intended destination within Webassessor after authentication, such as the registration screen or the exam launch screen.
Deciding which integration methodology to use depends on the use cases you want to satisfy using SSO.
Standard SSO is a good choice if your primary goal is to simplify logging into Webassessor. To accomplish this, a link is provided in the client application (e.g., LMS) that will seamlessly log your candidate into Webassessor without requiring them to re-enter their credentials. Once in Webassessor, the candidate manually navigates through Webassessor to complete the desired task.
If your primary goal is to simplify candidates’ completion of a specific task or tasks within Webassessor (e.g., registering for an exam) and return them to the originating client application, then the SSO Deep Links is the better choice. Deep Links allows you to create up to 3 links that seamlessly log your candidate into Webassessor and then take them to the appropriate pages to perform the designated tasks (e.g., payment, registration, or exam scheduling). Once the process is completed, the candidate is returned to your application).
Here are use cases handled by a deep links SSO integration:
Regardless of which integration methodology you select, enabling SSO can save time and reduce frustration for candidates, leading to a more pleasant and productive test-taking experience.
