Expanding Accessibility in Test Delivery

Reflecting Kryterion’s deep commitment to providing equitable access to testing and improving the test-taking experience, the Webassessor test delivery interface has been enhanced. It now includes enhancements that make the interface more usable to a wide range of people, including those with disabilities who use screen readers or other assistive technologies. Our upgraded lockdown browser is at the heart of these improvements, fully satisfying the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. The latest enhancements:

  • Make the browser compatible with popular screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, and ZoomText.
  • Use HTML elements that allow screen readers to correctly interpret test content and convey the content back to the candidate.
  • Allow candidates to navigate their exam using only a keyboard.
  • Provide a keyboard controlled, visible focus indicator in the form of an outline that identifies individual item response options and associated buttons during the exam.
  • Allow candidates to zoom up to 400% without needing to scroll horizontally.
